Maybe when they're older and you're no longer taking care of them you can be their sorta friend. But as far as it goes you can really only ever be friendly with your children, it's just not a mutual relationship. But I'm sure your kids appreciate the relationship they have with you even if you are uncool in their eyes.

Just ran across your blog, didn't want to just read and run. I really enjoyed reading some of your posts. I'm a new mother to a beautiful girl she is 3 months old. I can understand what you mean about becoming your mom, I use to think that I was going to be the coolest mom in the world, I kinda still think that I will be :). Now that I think about her growing up and wanting to do the things that I wanted to do and my mother telling me no, I understand why she wouldn't let me. There is one thing that I have noticed since becoming a mother I have become closer to my mother, use to maybe a phone call to her every other week, now it is a couple times a week. Crazy how life changes with kids, but it is for the best!
